Message from Fr. David Steffy, LC,

Incoming Chargé of the Holy See for Notre Dame of Jerusalem Center

Notre Dame of Jerusalem Center, Jerusalem, December 4th, 2020

Dear Friends of Notre Dame,

Greetings from Jerusalem!

Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Father David Steffy, LC, from Detroit, Michigan, USA.

I have been recently assigned to the post of Chargé of the Holy See for the Pontifical Institute Notre Dame of Jerusalem Center. I am excited to begin this role and look forward to welcoming you to the Holy Land and to Notre Dame Center as soon as the COVID-19 pandemic allows us too once more travel freely.

Fr. Juan María Solana, LC, has taken up the full-time role as Director of Magdala

I want to thank my predecessor, Fr. Juan María Solana, LC, who many of you know personally and who leaves Notre Dame Center after serving the community here for over 15 years. Fr. Solana will not be far off as he has taken up the full-time role as Director of Magdala, one of the Holy Land´s newest pilgrimage must-visit sites at the shores of the Sea of Galilee. We are so grateful for his powerful spirit of servant leadership, faith, and excellent Christian hospitality. The dedicated team that stewards Notre Dame will continue to provide a truly unique and personalized pilgrimage experience for our guests, our cherished pilgrims and visitors in the Holy Land.

I also wish to thank H.E. Pietro Parolin, Cardinal Secretary of State and H.E. Mons. Leopoldo Girelli, Apostolic Nuncio to Israel and Cyprus and Apostolic Delegate in Jerusalem and Palestine, for their constant support of the mission of the center. Serving pilgrims and making them feel at "home" in the Holy Land continues to inspire us as we serve the universal and local Church.

In this uncertain time, we continue to offer daily adoration and Mass, interceding for all of your needs and intentions. Prayer from the heart of the world, here in Jerusalem, is an important way that we minister to others. As well, we are availing ourselves of this time to upgrade and improve the facilities of the center. Since the pandemic has greatly affected the tourism sector in the Holy Land, we are doing our best to support our employees and their families during these times. I ask for your prayers for them and the Christians of the Holy Land, many of whom depend on the Tourism sector as a main source of income. Please be sure of our prayers from Jerusalem as well for your families, and communities.

We look forward to welcoming you soon

We look forward to welcoming you soon and trust that by early next year we can meet in the Holy Land.

Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any questions, comments or suggestions. I am at your service.

I wish you a blessed Advent Season.

Fraternally yours in Christ,

Father David Steffy, L.C.
