Notre Dame of Jerusalem Center is privileged by many things: a beautiful architecture, a great location, a rich history. But one of the thing that makes us most proud are our people. This is why we want to take this space to introduce some of the people that make up the Notre Dame of Jerusalem Center family.
This month we will talk to Lourdes H. from Bethlehem, one of our sales officers at the gift shop in Notre Dame of Jerusalem.
We asked Lourdes: What do you think is the best part of your job?
“Helping people that come to the store looking for a special gift!”
What is the funniest story you have experienced in the store?
“One day a customer came with her friend and her friend´s name was Susy and she started to call her, but I thought she was telling me `excuse me´, so I kept answering. She thought my name was Susy also, and we all got very confused. We laughed a lot that day!”
What has the experience of working here done for your faith?
“To see how many people use their vacation time and money to visit the Holy Land. I feel as though my religion has grown stronger, and it makes me value the sacred places even more”
What is the hardest question a pilgrim has ever asked in the store?
“Well I do not live here in Jerusalem, so when I first started to work here and people needed instructions around the city it got a little bit difficult for me, now it is not a problem.”
Who have you met in Notre Dame Center that impressed you and why?
“Marina, one of our store suppliers, is definitively a role model to me. Her professionalism inspires me. The way she has built her business, how she does things, how she takes care of her business, inspires me to one day be like her. She tells me I give her good luck in the store. I really want to be like her!”
What is the best advise you could give to someone that visits Notre Dame Center of Jerusalem?
“Come to the store! We are good at helping people and we have great quality in our products, that will be great memories of your trip. You will have fun in the store!”
What is something you would like to learn more about?
“Spanish”
What does it mean for you to be a part of the Notre Dame family?
“Being part of the Notre Dame family means a lot to me. Because I meet a lot of people, from all over the world, that share my faith. I’m also proud to be part of Notre Dame of Jerusalem because it represents the Vatican in the Holy Land.”
